We are happy to announce that speed skating star, Olympic champion and world champion Nils van der Poel will give a lecture during the European Table Tennis Championships in Malmö in September.
The lecture “Motivation – my weakest link” takes place on Friday 15 September in Malmömässan, five minutes from Malmö Arena where the quarter-finals of the European Table Tennis Championship will be in full swing. Everyone who buys or has already bought their ETTC ticket for Friday, regardless of category, will be offered the opportunity to add Nils’ lecture.
About the lecture
At the age of 25, Nils van der Poel had won everything there was to win, set world records and ended his elite run by publicly publishing his training diary – and giving away one of his Olympic gold medals to Gui Minhai.
In public, Nils is known as an athlete who knows what he wants and who does not give way to anything. However, he himself says that motivation is his weakest link.
“Motivation – my weakest link” is the story of Nils and how he learned to know himself and understand how he needs to master himself in order to succeed. No matter who you are, it’s quite easy to draw parallels to Nils’ stories of success, sacrifice and failure. The lecture is not an incendiary speech, but instead an autobiographical account of a boy from Trollhättan who became the best in the world at speed skating in circles.
Day: Friday 15 September
Time: at 13:00-14:00 (if Sweden is still in the ETTC, their matches will be played later in the afternoon/evening)
Price: 400 SEK (added to the ETTC ticket price)
*Admission to the lecture requires an extra ticket, as well as showing the ticket to the ETTC on Friday.
Tickets for the lecture
A ticket to Nils’ lecture can only be combined with a ticket to the ETTC on Friday. Note that it is therefore not possible to take part only in the lecture. Tickets for the lecture are available on Ticketmaster from today, Wednesday 5 July.
Those of you who already have an EM ticket for Friday will receive an email with further instructions on how to buy a lecture ticket.
Please not that the lecture will be in Swedish.
