Do you want to be part of creating a unique, sustainable and fantastic championship? In that case, become a volunteer!
By filling in the application form, you will be starting your journey towards becoming part of the European Table Tennis Championships 2023. The more days you are able to work and the more relevant previous experience you have, the greater your chances of becoming part of the team.
We will need volunteers in the areas; logistics, hospitality, press & media, transportation, competition, fan-zone and support. You can read more about each volunteer area below.

WE WILL NEED VOLUNTEERS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS
LOGISTICS
ACCREDITATION
Your job is to ensure that players, managers, referees, media, VIPs and volunteers receive accreditation that entitles them to access specific areas of the arena. You check identification, compare with a data register and hand out the accreditation. In some cases, you need to print the accreditation on site.
The accreditation is an extremely important function because in many cases it is our first contact with the visitor and our public face. Here we are looking for people with good language skills, high social skills and a cheerful mood. It is also important that you are stress-resistant, accurate and service-oriented. It is an advantage if you are used to computer-based work. You will be stationed in the accreditation centre. There will be more to do at the beginning of the championship.
SECURITY
Within this group you work with security and maintaining it. It can range from checking accreditation badges to guarding entrances and exits, and different areas such as competition areas, training hall, VIP and Players Lounge.
Within the group, we are also looking for medically trained volunteers who can perform first aid in the event of an accident. Here we are looking for you who have a mind of your own, who are determined and likes order. You have good language skills and are service-minded.
CONSTRUCTION/ESTABLISHMENT
Before and after the championship: In this position, you work with building up and removing materials as well as completing the competition halls down to the smallest detail. We are looking for people with good physique and who like to work in a group.
During the championship: Making sure the event runs smoothly. It can range from damage that occurs to equipment that needs to be replaced to keeping order and cleaning.


HOSPITALITY
VIP
If you are representative, service-oriented and a problem solver, you are suitable as a host/hostess in the VIP group. You are fluent in both Swedish and English, other languages are also meritorious. During match days, your task is to provide high-class service to specially invited guests, paying VIP guests and sponsors, as well as manning the VIP entrance and the VIP area. If you perform best when the demands are high, this assignment is for you.
GUEST SERVICE
Volunteers in guest service will work as informers inside and outside the arena, which includes informing about the competition, answering questions and showing the way. Examples of volunteers in guest service are crowd and stand hosts, hosts in the Players Lounge and companions during doping tests. We are looking for people who has good language skills, high social skills, who likes to solve problems and is passionate about service.
CATERING
The catering group is responsible for providing good service and ensuring that everything works regarding food and drink in areas where accredited persons are located, for example coffee and fruit for the press/media center and Players Lounge. Here we are looking for stress-resistant people with high social skills and who like to work with service. It is advantageous if you have experience in the restaurant industry.
PRESS & MEDIA
Your task during the tournament is to be helpful and provide service to journalists and photographers. Your workplace varies but is focused in and around the media center where you, for example, welcome journalists, hand out photographer vests and distribute food and drinks. You are service-oriented and we hope that you are interested in both media and table tennis. You preferably speak another language in addition to Swedish and English, which is a must. Volunteers in the media are on site during the match days. In some cases, times may vary because of press conferences and late evening work may occur.


TRANSPORTATION
During this championship, most of the transport will take place by train, but some car transport will also occur.
In the transport group we are looking for hosts who will be helpful to players, leaders, referees, visitors, media and others when they arrive at Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) and Hyllie station, as well as drivers.
The transport is an extremely important function because in many cases it is our first contact with the visitor and our public face. To become part of the transport group, you need to be at least 18 years old and have a driver’s license. You have good language skills, are happy and positive, have a good local sense and a lot of driving experience.
COMPETITION
SECRETARIAT & LIVESCORE
In this group you work with administration, ensure that there are start and result lists before and after each round, and manage live scores. We are looking for someone who is service-minded, stress-resistant, has extensive table tennis experience and some computer experience, as well as good language skills.
CEREMONIES
This area is responsible for conducting ceremonies. You and your team ensure that everything is in place and that all ceremonies are carried out in a good way. Here we are looking for people who is structured and meticulous. It is advantageous if you have good language skills.
BALL KIDS
Ball kids, or so-called ball pickers, is the group for young table tennis enthusiasts who want to experience the European Table Tennis Championship up close. As a ball kid, you are one of the few who works on the floor – you sit right outside the court, collect balls and hand them over to the referees during the set breaks. If you like table tennis, can stay focused for long periods of time and are good at collaborating with others, the ball kids group is for you!
You need to be 12-15 years old to be a ball kid.


FAN ZONE
Your workplace is in the Fan Zone, which will be located on the opposite side of Malmö Arena’s main entrance. Your tasks are varied and cover everything from holding activities and inspire people to participate in the activities in the Fan Zone, to showing visitors the right way. You are outgoing, service-oriented and like when a lot is happening around you. The Fan Zone is open every game day during the championship.
SUPPORT
VOLUNTEER POOL
The volunteers in the pool group will be supporting all the other volunteer groups. The tasks are very varied and depend on where reinforcement is needed for the moment or the day. Sometimes there may be temporary tasks, absences from a volunteer group or that a group needs reinforcement for a certain period. We are looking for people who are flexible, positive and who likes to take on new challenges.

This group is based in the volunteer centre and helps with scheduling, staffing, information and service, as well as the practical operation of the volunteer centre. Even before the event starts, part of the group will start working on packing up and preparing clothes, materials and information for the other volunteer groups. The duties also include responsibility for the release of all material. We are looking for people who are structured, meticulous and stress-resistant with a cheerful mood.
