Strong Mittelham finish – ninth German gold
Germany continues to rule the women’s side in the EC. When the Germans defeated Romania in the final with 3–0, it was the ninth gold (two as the nation of West Germany) since the EC started in 1958. And now: 18–0 in the six games in Malmö Arena. No one in the gold squad lost a match. For Romania, who last won in 2019, fifth title overall, it was especially sour for Andreea Dragoman, who had 10–8 in the deciding game against Nina Mittelham. But Mittelhamn took four straight points in the final phase – one of the balls was on the edge. Mittelhamn lost only four games in six matches.
